An oil slick the size of a small city can now be cleaned up in a few hours. Rostec has developed a new generation oil and debris collector "Sever", capable of cleaning vast water areas from oil products and floating debris.
The vessel is designed for operation in ports, harbors, roadsteads, and large river sections. According to the developers' calculations, "Sever" can collect pollution in a 15 m wide strip and clean up to 100,000 m² of water per hour.
The main feature of the project is the high efficiency of oil product collection. The oil recovery rate from water should exceed 92%.
The catamaran will be able to eliminate an oil spill of 1 square kilometer in 10 hours, and in bad weather – in 15 hours.
The vessel features a catamaran design, a crew of four, and increased capacities for collecting pollutants. The potential volume of collected oil products reaches 120 tons daily.
