The Russian automotive industry is preparing for a large-scale reboot. In 10 years, the country wants to produce as many cars as entire automotive powers in Eastern Europe produce today, said Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov.
According to him, the department expects to bring the production volume to 2.5 million cars per year by 2035.
Moreover, this refers not only to an increase in assembly, but also to deep localization of components – from electronics to key units.
Undoubtedly, from an industrial point of view, we are guided by production volumes and expect to reach an output of 2.5 million cars per year by 2035 in accordance with this strategy option.
According to the ministry's plan, the share of domestic cars in the Russian market should grow to 80%. To achieve this, the authorities are going to focus on unifying platforms and component bases.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Maxim Alikhanov, emphasized that Russia is moving towards relaunching all car enterprises abandoned by foreigners.
