The Russian market for new passenger cars continues to grow. In May 2026, 109,892 cars were sold – 20.5% more than in May last year. In the five months since the beginning of the year, 492,342 cars were sold, which is 11.8% higher than the figures for January–May 2025, said Sergey Tselikov, head of the Avtostat agency.
The undisputed leader is Lada. In May, 28,365 cars of this brand were sold, and its market share exceeds a quarter. In second place is Haval with 15,834 cars sold. Tenet took third place (11,511 units). The top five most demanded brands also included Geely (6,836) and Changan (5,194).
The top 10 included Belgee (5,156), Toyota (3,014), Jaecoo (2,861), Jetour (2,830), and Solaris (1,991). According to Avtostat, market growth is observed in almost all segments. Demand for new cars remains consistently high. Experts attribute this to the expansion of model ranges of Russian and Chinese brands, as well as the adaptation of the market to new economic conditions.
