"Kalashnikov" Armed "Mayak": Izhevsk Machines Brought Kirov Production to a New Level of Precision

New silent, high-precision centers increased tool processing accuracy to hundredths of a millimeter

Four new high-precision lathes have been launched at the Kirov "Mayak" plant. The equipment was supplied by the Kalashnikov Concern, completely replacing the outdated machine park in the tool shop. The accuracy of tooling processing increased to hundredths of a millimeter, and parts production accelerated without loss of quality.

The machines operate almost silently and maintain specified parameters even on hardened workpieces, which previously required extra operations. Experienced toolmakers note that the new equipment allows for maintaining tight tolerances in the manufacture of complex assemblies, including graduated measuring rings. For Mayak's products, where a deviation of microns affects the performance of finished products, such control has become a mandatory condition.

Operators report a significant improvement in ergonomics and control. Instead of mechanical drives and manual calculations, digital displays, electronic rulers, and intuitive interfaces have appeared. The system sets coordinates and dimensions directly, eliminating errors during setup. Smooth startup and logical arrangement of controls reduced the load on personnel and shortened preparation time.

Masters with many years of experience emphasize that the transition to modern technology not only simplified daily tasks but also opened up the possibility of processing parts that were previously considered technologically complex for this section.
