Russia to reinstate higher tank school after 20 years

The Chelyabinsk university was closed during military reforms

The Russian government has officially decided to reinstate the Chelyabinsk Higher Tank Command School, which was disbanded in 2007. The corresponding order was published on the portal of legal acts.

The new educational institution will once again become part of the Russian Ministry of Defence system and will train officers for armored forces.

The Ministry of Defence has been instructed to carry out organizational measures, register the educational institution, and secure the necessary infrastructure and property for it by August 1.

Meanwhile, a problem has arisen with the components for modern Russian tanks — 173 million rubles were recovered from Chelyabinsk's "ChTZ-Uraltrak" based on a lawsuit by "Uralenergosbyt". The enterprise produces engines for the T-90M and T-72B3M, and it faces bankruptcy.
