Russia's new generation EP5N train showcased at exhibition in Minsk

The train received an exclusive Belarusian design

Transmashholding (TMH) presented its new development – the low-floor AC electric train EP5N – at the XV International Exhibition “Transport and Logistics-2026” in Minsk. As reported by the company, specifically for the demonstration in the capital of Belarus, designers developed an exclusive livery and interior, emphasizing the train's character. The image was created in collaboration with the National Center for Industrial Design and Innovation LAB 20/50.

Technical features of EP5N

The electric train is designed for suburban and interregional transportation on AC lines. The structural speed of the train is 160 kilometers per hour. The EP5N can include from 4 to 10 cars. The main feature is the lowered floor level in the entrance area, which simplifies passenger boarding and alighting.

The train will be equipped with an asynchronous traction drive, predictive diagnostics systems, video surveillance, and passenger counting. The door width will be 1250 millimeters, and the sealed inter-car gangways will be 1200 millimeters. Wi-Fi will be available in the cabins, and USB-A and USB-C charging ports will be provided for each passenger. The train will also have bicycle parking and charging stations for electric scooters. Sanitary modules will be equipped with contactless equipment and a changing table.

The control panel will be located in the center of the cabin – the driver will be able to operate the train without an assistant. The cabin will be equipped with heated and air-suspended seats, thermal curtains, a folding table, a refrigerator, and a microwave oven.

Unified TMH style

TMH, developing platform solutions for rolling stock, is implementing a unified design concept “Brand DNA,” which unites all new developments of the holding. The concept is designed to ensure the recognition of Transmashholding products in Russia and abroad. The “Brand DNA” is based on recognizable elements: a hexagon figure, emphasizing the frontal view of the train and symbolizing mathematical precision and dynamics, as well as a combination of two opposing waves.
