The "Orkan" marine drone developed by "Si Proekt" is being prepared for large-scale research in Arkhangelsk

The autonomous vessel will help conduct geodesic and engineering measurements

The company "Si Proekt" transferred the uncrewed surface vessel (USV) "Orkan" to the Northern (Arctic) Federal University (SAFU). It is being prepared for large-scale research. This became known at a meeting of the working group on the development of uncrewed marine transport in the Arkhangelsk region.

Next week, the "Orkan" will be sent to St. Petersburg for the installation of measuring equipment. After that, the autonomous vessel will return to Arkhangelsk and begin testing.

Developers from "Si Proekt" and representatives of the company "Bezekipazhnaya Logistika" will also take part in the project. During the work, they will evaluate the USV's capabilities in conducting geodesic and engineering measurements necessary for dredging operations.

The "Orkan" can also be used to monitor the state of aquatic biological resources, assess the technical condition of berths, and identify cases of illegal fishing. During the approbation, engineers will check the accuracy of the software and the reliability of communication.

Characteristics of the "Orkan" USV:

  • Dimensions: length — 5.3 m, width — 1.7 m
  • Displacement — 0.8 m3
  • Propulsion system — ICE
  • Waterjet propulsion type

The "Orkan" marine drone is considered one of the most compact. It was first presented to the public in 2024 at the "Fleet" exhibition in Kronstadt.
