New large UMO 8 hybrid to be certified in Russia: the car is equipped with advanced electronic services

The all-wheel drive model is being prepared for production at the Moskvich plant

Certification of the new UMO 8 model has begun in Russia – an all-wheel drive hybrid car with modern electronic services. Several declarations of conformity, necessary for obtaining Vehicle Type Approval (OTTS), have already been issued for the car. The official presentation of the new product may take place in the summer.

The UMO 8 will be a series hybrid. This is a scheme where the gasoline engine does not directly rotate the wheels but works as a generator to power the electric motors.

The car will have all-wheel drive. The power of the electric motors will be approximately from 100 to 130 horsepower, and the capacity of the traction battery will be from 75 to 124 Ah. Other characteristics, including the body type, have not yet been officially disclosed.

Earlier, Ilya Rashkin, founder and CEO of EM Rus, spoke about plans to introduce a second UMO model in the summer. According to him, it will be a "large car" that will "appeal to the market." EM Rus is implementing the UMO electric vehicle project in cooperation with Yandex.

It is assumed that the UMO 8 will go on sale in two trim levels – Max and Ultra. The top version should include a head-up display on the windshield, an extended set of active driver assistance systems, an improved acoustic system, and other additional options.

Production of the UMO 8 is planned to be established at the Moscow Moskvich plant. The UMO 5 electric crossover has been assembled there since the end of February.
