The intercontinental ballistic missile "Sarmat" has been developed for more than ten years with the active participation of scientists from the Russian Academy of Sciences. This was announced by the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Gennady Krasnikov.
According to the academician, specialists from almost all scientific fields participated in the creation of the strategic complex. The work began with the participation of the general designer and covered the entire life cycle of the product — from the initial concept to the finished missile. Scientists were engaged in the development of fuel mixtures, onboard electronics, aerodynamic solutions, and other critically important components.
At every stage, Russian scientists, members of the Academy of Sciences, worked.
The ten-year development cycle reflects the scale and complexity of the project. "Sarmat" belongs to a new generation of missile systems and is designed to overcome any missile defense systems. The participation of academic science at all stages ensured the product's high reliability and technical characteristics, which are now confirmed by tests.
