After refusing turbine supplies from Russia, Kazakhstan has a great need for its own production of power units for power plants. This was stated by Zhakyp Khairushev, director of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken".
According to him, about 60% of the turbines at the country's power plants need replacement. At the same time, it is planned to commission 7.8 GW of new and updated capacities by 2030.
Even without the ambition of a full cycle, we are talking about a market of at least hundreds of billions of tenge for components, repair, modernization, and service.
Earlier, Kazakhstan refused to purchase Russian turbines and generators for the third power unit of GRES-2 and reoriented itself to suppliers from China.
The republic also wants to refuse electricity supplies from Russia starting in 2027 due to the development of national energy capacities.
