Rostec is ready to sell turbines based on military engines to foreigners

The installations are based on AL-31 and PS-90 aircraft engines

Rostec is ready to supply China with gas pumping stations and mobile power plants created on the basis of Russian aircraft engines. This was announced by Viktor Kladov, Director for International Cooperation of the state corporation.

He noted that the systems are based on AL-31 and PS-90 engines, which are used in combat and military transport aircraft.

By connecting a compressor or generator, an aircraft engine can be converted into a gas pumping station or a power plant.

Such stations sometimes have two or three aircraft engines. We are now preparing an installation for 32 megawatts.

Similar complexes, for example, are already used on Russian main gas pipelines, including Gazprom's infrastructure in the Far East.

The use of aviation units in energy is a long-standing practice in Russia. GTD-6RM engines based on D-30KU/KP from Il-76 have accumulated more than 5 million hours in total during industrial operation.

Also, AL-31ST gas turbine drives based on the AL-31F aircraft engine from Su-27 fighters have worked 3 million hours. In terms of time, this is more than 342 years of continuous operation.
