Potential recoverable oil reserves in the Achimov formations of the Salym field have exceeded 90 million tons. This assessment was prepared by scientists from Rosneft's Ufa research institute together with geologists from the subsidiary "RN-Yuganskneftegaz".
Specialists analyzed archived core samples and current drilling data, conducted seismic surveys and geological correlation. The comprehensive study allowed for clarifying the boundaries of the productive layer and building an updated three-dimensional model of hydrocarbon deposits. The calculation showed that the actual volume of the deposit was 12 times higher than the initial estimates obtained when the field was discovered.
The industrial efficiency of the horizon was confirmed last year. Three horizontal wells with an increased open-hole interval were launched in the area. The initial flow rate of each was 221 tons of oil per day, and over five months of operation, the average production per well exceeded 18.6 thousand tons.
The company plans to scale up operations. This year, 15 new wells will be put into operation. The long-term program provides for the creation of a fund of up to a thousand wells with an estimated flow rate of about 110 tons per day for each. The project includes sequential study of the reservoir and phased involvement of reserves in production.
