The Nizhnekamsk CHPP will replace a turbine that has been in operation since 1977. New equipment for the plant will be supplied by the Ural Turbine Plant under a contract with TGK-16. The project involves the supply of an R-100 turbine. It is intended to replace the unit that has reached the end of its service life.
Nizhnekamsk CHPP provides electricity and steam to large industrial enterprises in Tatarstan. After the equipment upgrade, the plant will be able to reduce specific fuel consumption and improve the reliability of the power unit's operation.
The Ural Turbine Plant is part of the "Inter RAO" energy machine-building structure. The energy holding operates in more than 30 regions of Russia and combines assets in generation, energy trading, engineering, and energy technologies.
Earlier, "Perviy Tekhnicheskiy" reported that the modernization of Smolensk CHPP-2 was completed: the plant commissioned a second new turbine unit with a capacity of 126 MW and brought the total installed electrical capacity to 316 MW.
