Tests of the new "Lesnik-2" forest harvesting equipment ecosystem, developed by PAO KAMAZ in cooperation with the Segezha Group timber industry holding, will begin in Karelia. The inspection will take place at the production site in the conditions of the Russian North and will be a stage of field tests of the updated line of machines.
The "Lesnik-2" project is a development of the previous version of forest equipment, "Lesnik-1". In the new modification, the manufacturer has completely switched to domestic components, abandoning imported units and focusing on increasing technological independence and supply chain stability.
The tests will involve the modernized KAMAZ-1010 harvester, KAMAZ-1012 forwarder, and a log truck with a hydraulic manipulator on a KAMAZ-65955 chassis. The equipment will operate at the "Segezha proving ground" of the forest resources branch of the Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill.
During the tests, specialists from the timber industry holding will evaluate the equipment's performance in real conditions: from complex terrain to climatic loads characteristic of northern regions. Special attention will be paid to how well the engineers managed to take into account the comments received from the operation of the previous version of the complex.
The "Lesnik-2" project is considered a step towards forming a fully localized ecosystem of forest machines, covering the entire timber harvesting cycle – from felling timber to its transportation and auxiliary operations.
