Russia Creates BREM with EW Against Drones and Evacuation Without Crew Exit

The vehicle received dynamic protection, UAV suppression systems, and remote coupling

Russian engineers have developed a new armored recovery and repair vehicle (BREM) with enhanced protection against drones, shrapnel, and anti-tank weapons. The documentation was published in the FIPS database, but the names of the developers are not disclosed.

The main feature of the project is an integrated electronic warfare system for drones. The equipment is placed directly on the vehicle's platform and is designed to create interference for drones around the BREM during the evacuation of damaged equipment.

The developers also focused on maximum crew protection. The vehicle was equipped with a mechanized coupling, allowing equipment to be evacuated without the crew exiting under fire or FPV drone attacks.

To increase survivability, the BREM received integrated dynamic protection on the side screens, additional containers with dynamic protection elements on chains, as well as protective modules on the hull and the crane.

An armored casing with a rear-view camera is installed at the stern. The optics are covered by a special pneumatically operated lid that protects them from dirt, shrapnel, and impacts during movement.

Recall that in early 2026, Uralvagonzavod announced the serial production of rare BREM-80s. Then Rostec reported on the delivery of a batch of this equipment to the military.
