Unmanned technologies are being actively introduced in various regions of Russia. By 2050, about half of the transport in the country could be autonomous. This opinion was expressed by Ivan Evstifeev, a member of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation for Economic Policy.
Drones are being tested in the Amur Region that will transport cargo between Russia and China.
A helicopter-type drone with a take-off weight of up to 100 kg operates between Khanty-Mansiysk and the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YNAO). The experience of other countries, including China, proves that unmanned cargo delivery has great potential, the senator concluded.
Drones to connect Russia and China
The Russian Ministry of Transport, together with colleagues from China, are working on the issue of organizing cross-border unmanned cargo transportation. They can be established via a bridge from Blagoveshchensk across the Amur River to Heihe.
In addition, the parties are interested in the delivery of small-sized cargo by unmanned aerial vehicles. For this purpose, a special drone hub may be built in Priamurye. The initiative is being worked out in the Federation Council and in relevant departments.
