Russia May Acquire Chinese Destroyers Amidst Aging Navy

Military expert Sergey Vinokurov: construction of long-range naval ships in Russia is slow

China continues to increase the pace of military shipbuilding. Theoretically, Russia could fill gaps in its fleet and purchase large warships from China, believes military analyst Sergey Vinokurov.

He recalled that in 2025 alone, China commissioned several new Type 052D destroyers. The expansion of the series of heavy Type 055 ships, which are comparable in size and armament to missile cruisers, also continues.

Just slightly increase the pressure in some gas pipeline like "Power of Siberia" — and there you have it, Russian admirals, a brand new missile destroyer under the St. Andrew's flag, hot off the press.

Vinokurov stated that Russia's own construction of long-range naval ships is slow. The combat capabilities of the Navy are negatively affected by the presence of vessels with a significant service life, noted the head of the Maritime Board, Nikolay Patrushev.
