Europeans are resting: Oktava microphones outperformed foreign counterparts on stage and in the studio

Tula D1 and D2 are on par with Western models in sound and superior in reliability

The Tula plant "Oktava DM" (a partner of the Rostec state corporation) produces D1 and D2 instrumental microphones for professional sound reinforcement of drum kits. In terms of sound quality, engineers put them on par with European counterparts, and in terms of mounting reliability and characteristic stability, they have no competitors on the Russian market.

Dynamic microphones are designed for high sound pressure levels: 125 decibels for D1, 120 decibels for D2. The D1 model (supercardioid) is designed for the bass drum. The D2 model (cardioid) is for the snare drum, tom-toms, and percussion. Special rim mounts are included, allowing the microphones to be used without additional stands.

Composer and sound engineer Mark Bryantsev tested the microphones. According to him, they have a good attack, hold pressure perfectly, and sound rich. He recorded several pieces with them and was satisfied with the result. Sergey Lukyanov, sound engineer of the "Dikaya Myata" festival, uses D1 and D2 on drums – both at concerts and in the studio. According to him, the microphones hold perfectly on the mount, and in terms of sound, they compete with rider models from well-known brands.

The entire development and production cycle is concentrated in Tula. Rostec notes that this ensures characteristic stability and a short supply chain, which is critically important for concert venues and distributors.
