Kursk NPP-2 completes reactor foundation pouring ahead of schedule

Four months of continuous work and 200 specialists - how the power unit's foundation was created

At the construction site of the third power unit of Kursk NPP-2, the concreting of the foundation for the reactor building has been completed. The work was carried out by the contractor "Titan-2" ahead of schedule. The monolithic slab, with an area of 5.4 thousand square meters, reached its design strength after four months of continuous pouring.

Approximately two hundred workers and specialists were involved in this stage. Concreting was carried out in three shifts, with continuous monitoring of the mixture's temperature and compaction density. The technical supervision of Rosenergoatom confirmed the compliance of all parameters with the project documentation.

After completing the work, the builders proceeded to prepare the vertical structures: formwork installation, rebar cage placement, and welding of embedded parts for the reactor compartment walls.

The contractor noted that the early completion of the foundation allows for adjusting the schedule of related works and reducing the risks of delays in commissioning the unit.

Kursk NPP-2 is being built according to the VVER-TOI project – a modern generation of Russian reactors with enhanced safety. The third power unit is planned to be launched in 2030.
