The model of the new long-haul aircraft Tu-454 presented in Kazan remains just a concept, the future of which is unclear. This was stated by the editor-in-chief of the FrequentFlyers portal, aviation expert Ilya Shatilin.
According to him, such an aircraft is needed, among other things, for international flights to Southeast Asian countries. However, the current version of the Tu-454 is not even a prototype.
Just a model, from which it is clear that there are no drawings behind it.
Shatilin added that the commercial success of an aircraft can only be discussed when it is not just mass-produced and flying, but also when the program has fully paid off. For this, many more aircraft need to be built.
Andrey Patrakov, a board member of the Association of Small Aviation Enterprises, explained to "Pervy Tekhnichesky" that none of the remaining design bureaus in Russia can handle the development of the Tu-454 alone.
