Kazakhstan intends to refuse electricity supplies from Russia starting in 2027 due to the development of national energy capacities. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Energy Sungat Yesimkhanov.
According to him, the country purchased electricity from Russia due to a deficit in its own capacities.
If we commission all planned facilities by the end of this year – beginning of next year, then in 2027, I think, we will not purchase electricity from Russia at all.
Earlier, Kazakhstan refused to purchase Russian turbines and generators for the third power unit of GRES-2 and reoriented to suppliers from China.
The republic is also looking for a replacement turbine for TPP-2 in Astana, but wants to transfer the production of key components to China. At the same time, the casing parts of the unit will be built according to the documentation of the Leningrad Metal Plant.
