Varshavyanka and Paltus Submarines Begin to Be Protected with "Mangals" Based on T-90M Tank Experience

Project 636.3 and 877EKM Submarines Also Equipped with Machine Gun Positions

In Kronstadt, diesel-electric submarines "Mozhaisk" of Project 636.3 (code "Varshavyanka") and "Dmitrov" of Project 877EKM (code "Paltus") were spotted with installed elements of additional drone protection. Footage appeared online.

On one of the submarines, there is a machine gun turret in the stern, and a searchlight on the navigation bridge. According to a number of signs, another firing point may be located near the optical equipment.

The second submarine has a protective visor over part of the superstructure, which visually resembles the so-called "mangals" used to protect T-90M tanks from drone attacks.

Boom barriers were also installed near the submarines, designed to protect the anchorage from uncrewed boats and underwater sabotage means.

Recently, photos of another submarine with a "mangal" directly on the conning tower also went viral online.
