The Perovsky District Court of Moscow has ruled illegal the online sale of devices that allow jamming the "Platon" system's signal, thereby evading payment for truck passage on federal highways.
The court granted the claim of the Perovsky Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office and ordered the blocking of relevant advertisements on websites and in online stores. The decision took effect immediately.
The reason for the proceedings was the discovery of online offers for the sale and installation of equipment to suppress the "Platon" signal on trucks weighing over 12 tons.
The "Platon" system is a state system for collecting fees from heavy trucks for using federal roads. It tracks vehicle movement using onboard devices and charges for the distance traveled, which is then used for road infrastructure maintenance and repair.
The prosecutor's office noted that the use of jammers directly violates the requirements of legislation on mandatory payment for damage caused to roads by heavy transport (Article 12.21.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation).
After identifying such advertisements, the supervisory authority appealed to the court with a demand to recognize such information as prohibited for distribution. The court supported the prosecutor's position and ordered access to the materials to be restricted.
