Lada quality improved after Renault's departure from Russia, AvtoVAZ believes

The company began to close "old debts" - problems that no one had solved for years

AvtoVAZ believes that the quality of Lada cars has significantly improved in recent years. Vitaly Paradizov, Director of Quality for Car Assembly Production, stated that the company has undertaken to solve "long-standing problems" that have plagued models for decades but were never addressed. According to him, over the past three years, these problems have begun to be resolved one by one, mainly due to design changes.

Under the previous owner (Renault), such investments were practically impossible. Paradizov explained that attempts to invest in the refinement of Granta or Niva were blocked – the French sought to transfer Russian models to their own CMF-B alliance platform, and considered the development of the old platform meaningless. They directly stated that they would not invest there.

A vivid example is the new 90-horsepower engine for the Niva Travel. According to the AvtoVAZ representative, its necessity has long been obvious, especially against the backdrop of the outdated 1.7 engine. The company emphasizes that the new unit is significantly more modern – they have different technologies for manufacturing parts, assembly, and testing. The same engine will later appear on the Niva Legend.

However, it's not just about the design. AvtoVAZ stated that all workplaces are now fully staffed, whereas previously, personnel shortages often led to unqualified people being assigned to assembly, which directly affected quality. According to internal inspection schedules, the number of discrepancies found in finished cars has significantly decreased, and after 2022–2023, the defect rate sharply declined.
