Kostroma engineer created a combined turbine: better efficiency without increasing size

The power unit operates due to multi-point flow impact and adjustable nozzles

Vladimir Mikhailov, an engineer from Kostroma, developed a scheme for a combined active turbine that can increase operational efficiency without increasing the unit's dimensions. The solution is intended for use in generators, compressors, and pumps.

The main difference is in the working fluid supply. Instead of one direction, several nozzles are used, evenly distributed throughout the body.

They direct the flow directly to the working sections of the blades, creating a more uniform and dense impact, Mikhailov noted.

The developer changed the wheel geometry. The disk is made in the form of a truncated cone directed towards the outlet, which accelerates fluid removal and reduces energy losses. The blades combine the functions of flow direction and transformation, stabilizing the turbine's operation.

Additionally, the system received adjustment: the nozzles can change their angle, and the supply is controlled at the inlet. This allows adapting the mode to the current load.

According to the author's concept, such a scheme provides faster RPM gain, stable operation, and a potential increase in efficiency while maintaining the compact size of the unit.
