AvtoVAZ secured a name for its first plug-in hybrid

On April 22, 2026, AvtoVAZ filed an application with Rospatent to register the new Lada PHEV 4WD trademark. The designation directly indicates the technical makeup of the future model.

PHEV is a plug-in hybrid with an internal combustion engine and an electric motor charged from a power outlet. 4WD means all-wheel drive.

The new model is being created on the basis of the new Lada Azimut crossover. AvtoVAZ President Maksim Sokolov previously confirmed the development of a hybrid version. A pilot prototype will be shown as early as Q3 2026.

The powertrain will produce 290 kW, acceleration to 100 km/h will take 5.7 seconds, and the cruising range without refueling will reach 1,100 km.

Earlier, AvtoVAZ launched a long-term subscription program for Lada cars — "Lada Legko." It allows customers to use a new car under rental terms with a fixed monthly payment.
