Yandex has adapted "Alice AI" for blind and visually impaired users — and this changes the very principle of access to technology. This is not about a single feature, but about a whole set of services. At the moment, 16 company products, including the chat with "Alice AI," have already become more accessible for people with visual impairments.
The main change is support for screen readers. These are special programs that voice everything happening on the screen or output information to a Braille display. Thanks to this, the user can fully interact with the interface.
In addition, special markup has appeared in the app and the web version. It simplifies keyboard navigation and helps users orient themselves in the service more quickly without visual control.
At the same time, the functionality has not changed. "Alice AI" can still generate and edit texts, suggest dinner recipes based on available ingredients, recommend films, and compare product prices.
The updated version is available on Android, iOS, and in the online version. The assistant runs on generative models from the Alice AI family — including Alice AI LLM, Alice AI ART, and Alice AI VLM.
