Rosatom Introduces "Manual Control Mode" in Pevek: Center Created to Synchronize Icebreakers, Construction Sites, and Northern Supply

"GlavSevmorput" Opens Logistics Headquarters in Chukotka Port to Ensure Navigation in the NSR Waters

FSBI "GlavSevmorput" (a structure of Rosatom) has formed a new advisory body to manage shipping in the direction of the port of Pevek. According to the state corporation, the decision was made against the background of a steady increase in cargo traffic: since the beginning of 2026, the indicators have consistently exceeded last year's by at least 10%.

The headquarters includes representatives of "GlavSevmorput" itself, "Atomflot", the government of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, the administration of the port of Pevek, as well as key shippers and shipowners. The main task is to synchronize the schedules of icebreaker escorts, vessel approaches, and unloading at terminals. By mid-May, a consolidated cargo delivery schedule will be approved, and during the active navigation period, the headquarters will switch to a weekly reconciliation of the actual situation with the plan, promptly taking compensatory measures for any deviations.

Pevek is the largest port in Chukotka and a key logistics hub according to the development master plan until 2035. The load on it will only increase, so the new coordination mechanism is designed to eliminate "logistics crises", evenly distributing capacity and preventing disruptions in the supply of vital goods as part of the northern supply. In November, the headquarters will summarize the results of the season to adjust processes for the future.

In fact, Rosatom is transferring the management of the key Arctic hub to a preventive mode.
