The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) presented the first platform solution in Russia for the cargo river fleet, the company's press service told "Pervy Tekhnichesky." The development was created at the request of shipowners - they are interested in serial, economical and modern new generation vessels. The flagship of the line is the dry cargo ship R2-RSN (4.5) - a conceptual vessel with an enhanced river function that can also operate in mixed traffic.
The platform solution is a departure from the traditional practice of designing each vessel as a single piece. A unified architecture, standardized technical solutions and a common production base allow ships to be built faster, cheaper and easier to operate.
Characteristics of the dry cargo ship: length - 141 m, width - 16.9 m, draft - 3.6 m in the river and 4.5 m in the sea, deadweight - 5,500 tons on the river and 7,820 tons in the sea, speed - at least 10.3 knots, the power of the main power plant - 2×950 kW. The vessel has four cargo holds.
Instead of the classic shaft line, rudder propellers are chosen. They provide high maneuverability on the river, simplify installation and improve layout. At the same time, the cost of a set with a classic shaft line can be twice as high.
The production base will be the modernized Krasnoye Sormovo (part of USC). After the completion of the development program, the plant should increase production from 6 to 20 vessels per year, and reduce the construction time before launching to 108 days from 225.
