Geoscan drones go to war with forest fires in the Novgorod region

Engineers have worked out the use of the Geoscan 801 drone in real field conditions

Test flights of the Geoscan 801 unmanned aerial system took place in the Khvoyninsky municipal district of the Novgorod region. The tests were organized by specialists from Geoscan with the support of the regional Ministry of Natural Resources, Forestry and Ecology.

During the trip, the specialists checked the operation of the drone in real conditions typical of the forest areas of the North-West. They assessed the functionality of the on-board equipment, configured navigation modules and updated the software of control systems.

Particular attention was paid to the interaction of the drone with the ground infrastructure: the quality of data transmission, the stability of communication and the accuracy of positioning in conditions of weak cellular network coverage were assessed.

Following the tests, representatives of Geoscan noted that the development of technologies on the ground is critical for the reliable operation of UAVs in forest monitoring tasks. Regular field trips help to adapt the equipment to the specific climatic and landscape features of the region, which increases the efficiency of data collection and the speed of response to changes in the forest fund.

The Geoscan 801 complex is capable of conducting aerial photography, creating orthophotomaps and identifying areas of vegetation damage - all of this is in demand in the practice of modern forestry.
