The Cuban army has begun using modernized Ural Next trucks with the BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) installed. The military of the Island of Freedom solved the problem with the mobility of artillery and almost lightning-fast change of position.
The artillery part remained unchanged — 40 guides of 122 mm caliber. A full salvo is carried out in about 20 seconds, covering an area of up to 40,000 square meters.
With modern ammunition, the firing range reaches 40 km, while basic shells operate at a distance of up to 20.4 km.
The YaMZ-536 engine with a capacity of up to 312 hp accelerates the unit to 85–90 km/h, which is critical for the "hit-and-run" tactics.
The weight of the complex is about 14–15 tons, which allows it to be used on weak soils and bridges with limited load.
