Home internet may become more expensive: operators are preparing for new requirements

New rules may lead to price increases of up to 30%

The cost of home internet may increase in Russia — by an average of 8–10%. This forecast is given by analysts against the background of a possible tightening of requirements for providers.

We are talking about new rules that are being discussed in the Ministry of Digital Development. Among the proposals is the introduction of paid licenses for operators and additional requirements for infrastructure, including connection to control systems.

According to experts, providers are likely to pass on any new costs to users. In the basic scenario, tariff growth may be up to 10%, but under more stringent conditions, it may reach 30%.

The exact scale of the price increase will depend on the details of the regulation — primarily on the cost of licenses and the amount of new obligations for operators.

At the same time, small providers may be most affected by the changes. For them, additional costs may be critical — some companies will begin to merge or leave the market.

No sharp jump in prices is expected in the near future, but the market may gradually change: there will be fewer players and tariffs will be higher.
