Historical Riga Station in Moscow Unexpectedly Appeared on Avito

The total cost of two buildings built in the early 20th century and a land plot is estimated at 4 billion rubles

Riga Station in Moscow has been put up for sale on the popular Avito platform for 4 billion rubles. The announcement was posted by Russian Railways, the auction is scheduled for April 29 at noon Moscow time.

The lot includes three objects: the station building itself, built in 1901, with an area of almost 4 thousand square meters, a two-story non-residential building built in 1929, and a land plot of more than 13 thousand square meters. All structures are recognized as an object of cultural heritage of regional significance, which imposes restrictions on future reconstruction.

Applications for participation in the auction are accepted until April 20 inclusive. The starting price is formed on the basis of an independent appraiser's report, as required by the legislation on privatization of state property.

The decision to sell the station was approved by the government back in February 2026 — the order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. Earlier, Deputy Head of Russian Railways Ekaterina Krivosheeva mentioned that the company plans to sell the non-core asset through open bidding. Now this process has moved into a practical plane: any Avito user can study the lot and submit an application.

For the technical community, not only the price is of interest, but also the engineering status of the object. The station requires modernization of communications, adaptation to modern energy efficiency and safety standards. The new owner will face the task of balancing between preserving the historical appearance and introducing current technical solutions.

Recall that in mid-January 2026, an announcement about the sale of Domodedovo International Airport, one of Russia's key transport hubs, already appeared on the Avito trading platform. But then the lot with 100% of the airport's authorized capital was removed from the site.
