Breakthrough in compressor engineering: Russian engineers have modernized the free-piston unit

The new design improves the efficiency and consumption characteristics of the device

A group of Russian inventors has patented a utility model — a free-piston compressor with an electromagnetic drive. The device consists of a cylindrical body, inside which a magnetic piston moves, as well as inlet and outlet valves and an inductor.

The main difference of the new development is the special ratio of magnets and windings: for every three groups of magnets, there are two inductor windings. This design, according to the authors, allows to increase the efficiency of the compressor and improve its consumption characteristics.

The development can be used in refrigeration equipment, pneumatic systems and other devices where compact and efficient compressors are required.
