Record Sheet Piles of 18 Meters: "Severstal" Builds an Unusual Pier in Tatarstan

Metal consumption reduced by 17%, and the number of joints decreased due to the unique length of the piles

For the multi-modal port hub "Tempo-Port" under construction in the Nizhnekamsk region of Tatarstan, "Severstal" supplied non-standard Grani sheet piles and undertook the design, production, and installation. Previously, the company usually limited itself to selling metal, but this time it mastered the full cycle of soil retention work, "Pervy Technichesky" was told in the company's press service.

Engineers at Severstal Engineering prepared calculations for the quay wall. The metal consumption of the structure was reduced by 17% compared to standard projects, while the load-bearing capacity was not affected.

The production of 18-meter sheet piles was mastered for the customer - before that, they were not mass-produced. More than 1.5 thousand tons were delivered. Long piles made it possible to reduce the number of joints, which made the fence more reliable. The company also carried out the work on the installation of the sheet pile fence itself - with technical support at all stages.

The project is being implemented by the Tempo Group. The hub should combine river, rail, and road routes. The launch of the river port is scheduled for 2026–2027, and reaching full capacity by 2030.
