World-class full-cycle turbine repair service launched in Kaluga

The new RGT facility allows for the complete restoration of key hot section components

A new production building with a chemical etching line has been commissioned at the Russian Gas Turbines (RGT) plant (part of Inter RAO – Engineering) in Kaluga. The company's production area has increased by 55% to more than 4,200 m².

The key element is the etching line, which allows for the safe removal of protective coatings from hot section components, including rotor and stator blades, without damaging the metal.

This makes it possible to perform a full cycle of gas turbine repair on one site — without the involvement of third-party facilities.

The company has installed about 60 units of modern equipment, and the design capacity is up to 12 turboset per year.

RGT noted that the plant uses world's advanced F-class turbine technologies and is engaged in the production and localization of production technologies.

Alexander Tanichev, General Director of Inter RAO – Engineering, stated that from 2026 to 2030 the investment program will amount to 30 billion rubles.

Earlier it was reported that the Ural Turbine Plant has started working on the creation of the first 330 MW steam turbine – the most powerful unit of this class in Russia.
