The car will call emergency services itself: over 13.5 million cars connected to ERA-GLONASS

Over 13.5 million cars have already been connected to the ERA-GLONASS emergency response system in Russia. This was announced by the platform's CEO, Alexey Raikevich.

According to him, Russia was the first country to launch such an emergency alert system, which automatically transmits a signal in the event of an accident - even if the driver or passengers cannot do it themselves.

The main task of the platform is to transmit information about the accident to emergency services as quickly as possible, reducing response time in critical situations.

Now the system is reaching a new level: ERA-GLONASS is strengthening its interaction with the international satellite system COSPAS-SARSAT. This will expand coverage and increase the reliability of emergency signal transmission, including hard-to-reach areas.

We are talking about creating a unified security infrastructure for transport, where a signal about an incident can go anywhere - even where ordinary communication is not available.

The statement became known as part of the Russian Space Forum, which is taking place in Moscow during Space Week 2026.
