The country's most powerful 330 MW steam turbine is being developed in the Urals

Intermash expects mass production of the unit

Inter RAO – Engineering has begun work on creating the first steam turbine with a capacity of 330 MW. This was announced by the head of the company, Alexander Tanichev.

He clarified that the unit is being developed by the Ural Turbine Plant (UTZ), which specializes in the manufacture of heating turbines. However, the new condensing unit will go to one of the TPPs.

According to Tanichev, such turbines, after production, may go into mass production.

That is, the question is simply one of demand.

Let us clarify that in the class of steam turbines for nuclear power plants, there are more powerful units, including up to 1255 MW. However, for thermal generation and within the framework of the new Inter RAO line, the promising turbine is indeed flagship and the most powerful.

The Russian industry has been closely involved in the production of turbines in recent years. For example, UEC plans to demonstrate a 300 MW gas unit, there have never been such units in the history of the country.

At the same time, the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, stated that Russian turbines are more expensive than foreign ones.
