AI is already in business: every fourth company in Russia has implemented neural networks in their work

The main barriers are unclear returns, complex integration, and a lack of ready-made solutions

In Russia, 24% of companies have already officially integrated artificial intelligence technologies into business processes, while others use neural networks in their work situationally, according to a joint study by mobile operator Beeline and the Association of Managers.

According to the survey, a significant portion of businesses are using AI on a limited basis: 37% of companies use neural networks situationally, and another 17% are only evaluating the potential of the technology.

The industrial and financial sectors have become leaders in systematic implementation. Here, technologies are used to optimize complex production and analytical processes.

However, implementation is uneven. Among the main barriers, company executives cite uncertainty about the return on investment, difficulties in integrating with existing processes, and the lack of ready-made solutions for specific business tasks.

Despite this, the attitude towards technology remains generally positive. 61% of top managers consider the use of AI a strategic advantage, and 54% are confident in the high return on investment in this asset.

The study separately emphasizes the management factor. Currently, the implementation of AI in most cases remains the responsibility of IT directors - this is the case in 38.6% of companies. At the same time, commercial directors are involved much less often - in only 7% of cases.

The authors of the study note that a key condition for scaling is the transfer of initiative from IT to business. As long as AI remains within the IT function, it risks not becoming a full-fledged growth driver.

The study was conducted using electronic questionnaires from January 19 to February 20, 2026. It was attended by top managers aged 35 to 55 years from more than 70 Russian companies from the fields of industry, finance, trade, construction and consumer goods production.
