AvtoVAZ is modernizing equipment before the release of a new model

AvtoVAZ will begin production of the first Lada Azimut crossover in September 2026. Assembly will be set up in Togliatti. This was announced by the CEO of the concern, Maxim Sokolov.

Sokolov emphasized that this is "the first Russian crossover in more than 20 years".

The press service of AvtoVAZ stated that a large-scale modernization of production is planned for May 2026. The update of technological equipment is associated with the preparation for the release of Lada Azimut.

In addition, modernization is planned on the second production line of the concern, where SUVs of the Niva family are assembled.

What is known about Lada Azimut

AvtoVAZ presented the crossover in the summer of 2025 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). In the basic configuration, Lada Azimut will receive modernized engines with a volume of 1.6 and 1.8 liters, a 6-speed manual transmission or a variator.

The car will accelerate to 100 km/h in 12.4 seconds. Fuel consumption per 100 km will be 8.6 liters, the maximum speed is 171 km/h.
