Fully Russian equipment installed in Sarmat missiles

Dmitry Rogozin: Nuclear weapons are in very good condition and ready for use

Russia's strategic nuclear weapons are built entirely from domestic components, down to the servicing filters and oils. All samples are maintained in good technical condition and ready for immediate use, said former head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin.

He recalled that when he came to work in the government in 2011, some said that Russia had "rusty factories and rusty missiles."

Now no one will say that, everyone understands that this is not the case. The factories are the most modern. There is not a single foreign screw or pin in the missiles that are on combat duty and represent a nuclear shield, everything is only domestic, including oils and filters. Our control system and works flawlessly.

Rogozin noted that the Voevoda missiles on combat duty will serve while tests of the new Sarmat heavy nuclear missile system are underway.

I headed the working group to prepare the first Sarmat tests. They were successful on April 20, 2022. And where we wanted to get to, to the training ground in Kamchatka, we got there, with the highest accuracy.

According to data from open sources, as of the beginning of 2026, the basis of Russia's strategic nuclear forces consists of about 575 carriers capable of carrying more than 1,500 nuclear warheads.

However, after the expiration of the New START treaty, the quantitative restrictions on the deployment of systems officially ceased to operate.

The advanced Sarmat heavy intercontinental missile will go on combat duty in 2026, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.
