Verkhny Ufaley "Zavod Dormash" designed, manufactured, and shipped a double-pass drying drum with an end drive to the customer. The weight of the unit was 25.5 tons. The equipment is designed for drying inert materials (sand, crushed stone) at asphalt plants before preparing mixtures. The project was implemented as part of import substitution: the unit produced in the Southern Urals completely replaces similar imported models. The need for its manufacture arose due to the limited resource of foreign equipment operated by the partner. The customer chose not to repair, but to completely replace it with a domestic development.
Technical features: double-pass design and end drive
For "Zavod Dormash", work on the project became the development of new technological solutions. For the first time in the company's practice, a double-pass drum was manufactured — a design in which the material passes through the inner and outer cavity, which increases the drying time with compact dimensions. A new type of torque transmission has also been mastered — through the end drive, when the engine transmits force directly to the end of the drum, and not through the central axis.

Testing and plans for mass production
After the completion of the production cycle, a control assembly of the product and a full cycle of technical tests were carried out at idle. Specialists performed all the necessary measurements, documenting the results. The tests confirmed the high quality of the equipment and its compliance with the stated characteristics. The data obtained will be used when launching mass production.
So far, our drying drum has been manufactured as a prototype for a specific order. However, this is not a one-time project, but the first stage of a strategy to revive the production of road equipment. We plan to establish mass production of these products, relying on our many years of experience and historically established competencies in this area. And the growing demand for domestic road equipment will help us to fulfill the task of restoring the brand "Zavod Dormash" as one of the leaders in the segment

The main areas are the production of road, crane, oil and gas, tank and technological equipment. The development of a double-pass drum and end drive expands the technological capabilities of the enterprise and allows it to enter the segment of large-sized equipment for asphalt plants. Previously, similar units were supplied mainly from Europe and Turkey.
