Russian engineers are constantly updating the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system. This work never stops, said Andrey Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee.
Industry, research institutes, our design [bureaus] never stop. This is not a dogma, but, so to speak, a guide to action.
This is how the parliamentarian responded to a statement in foreign media about the US increasing the Precision Strike Missile, called the S-400 "destroyer". He did not specify which aspect of the complex the modernization concerns.
We will respond to the challenges with our own destroyers. We already have destroyers – submarines that are called aircraft carrier destroyers, multi-purpose groups or strike groups, aircraft carrier formations.
The S-400 is a long-range system capable of detecting aircraft, drones, and missiles. The system is capable of shooting down targets at a distance of up to 400 km and at an altitude of up to 30 km.
Yan Novikov, General Director of the Almaz-Antey Aerospace Defense Concern, emphasized that the Triumph is the most effective system in its class. For example, it bypasses the American MIM-104 Patriot in key parameters of mobility and the range of targets hit.
