Drone search system developed by students from Chechnya

New product from young engineers of GGTU uses the principle of signal triangulation

Students of the Grozny State Oil Technical University named after Academician M. D. Millionshchikov have completed the development and certification of a system for detecting unmanned aerial vehicles. Representatives of the university shared details about the new domestic solution for ensuring security.

The key advantage of the development is the principle of triangulation. Against the background of standard detectors, which only record the fact of the presence of a signal, the GGTU specialists' system is able to calculate the approximate coordinates of the radiation source. To implement this function, engineers use several devices spaced around the perimeter of the protected area. An alarm signal is received only if the target is confirmed by at least two detectors simultaneously.

The author of the project said that the second version of the detector has already passed field tests and received a certificate of compliance. Now the team is working on another modification of the device. After assembling the case and completing the tests, the developers plan to bring the product to market. The project was originally created as part of import substitution and providing affordable means of protecting critical infrastructure and civilian facilities.
