Unique projectile for smoothbore with flexible bundle of bullets to be patented in Russia

New development allows combining striking elements of different geometries in one shot

Russian inventors want to obtain a patent for a projectile for smoothbore weapons with a non-standard design. Instead of a traditional bullet, it contains a set of striking elements of arbitrary shape — spherical, sector, segment or any other, which are placed in the seats of a special separator. The patent application appeared in the database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property.

The separator is a cylinder assembled from guide parts with recesses for striking elements. Its outer diameter exactly corresponds to the inner diameter of the barrel, so the projectile goes straight. Striking elements can be connected to each other by a cable or chain, passing them through holes or grooves. This combines them into a bundle and increases the effectiveness of the hit.

A feature of the development is the ability to use striking elements of different geometric shapes in one projectile, as well as to combine guide elements of various configurations. The number of guide elements can vary from two or more, and the protrusions on them can have an elongated shape and be located at an angle to the axis of the projectile.

The invention can be used in hunting and service cartridges for smoothbore weapons, expanding the shooter's options for choosing a ammunition configuration for a specific task.
