On March 20, 2026, in the area of the city of Kamyshin in the Volgograd Region, an An-2 aircraft with tail number RA-84629 was involved in an accident. The aircraft belonged to the aviation enterprise "Regionavia," which performs aerial operations.
The aircraft was carrying out a scheduled flight between the unpaved airstrips of Kamyshin and Dinamo. Immediately after takeoff from the Kamyshin site, the engine failed. The crew decided to make an emergency landing near the departure point. During landing, the An-2 struck trees and sustained significant structural damage.
There were two pilots on board. According to Volgograd Transport Prosecutor Sergey Lichman, both crew members were unharmed and their health is not in danger. Rosaviatsiya officially classified the occurrence as an aviation accident.
The Interstate Aviation Committee, together with the Southern Interregional Territorial Directorate of Rosaviatsiya, will investigate the circumstances. Specialists will examine the technical condition of the aircraft, the crew's actions, and the weather conditions at the time of the incident.
The aircraft, manufactured in 1980, is registered in the Volgograd Region. The An-2 continues to be used in regional air transportation thanks to its ability to operate from unprepared sites, but even reliable equipment requires strict compliance with maintenance regulations. The final causes of the engine failure will be determined by the IAC commission.
