Altayvagon has extended the certificate of compliance for the serial production of the articulated covered wagon model 11-2151, the first Russian freight wagon with a folding roof. The new document, issued under the TR TS 001/2011 regulation, allows the production of this unique platform until March 2031.
Model 11-2151 has no analogues in the domestic market. Its main feature is the roof, which folds back on both sides above each of the two bodies. The solution allows loading heavy, light, long, and oversized cargo that physically cannot pass through the standard doors of ordinary covered wagons. The roof drive is available in both electric and manual versions, giving operators flexibility depending on the infrastructure of the loading point.
Another structural detail is the fittings and guides built into the floor. Thanks to them, the wagon can carry containers: either four 20-foot or two 40-foot modules can be placed in two bodies. An alternative loading option is up to 60 Euro pallets. Thus, one platform covers several logistical scenarios at once, which increases its economic efficiency.
The technical parameters of the model confirm its focus on complex tasks: the carrying capacity is 93 tons with an axial load of 23.5 tons of force, the volume of the bodies is 230 cubic meters, and the floor area is almost 69 square meters. The length along the axes of the automatic couplers is 28.5 meters. The declared service life is 32 years, and the mileage to the first depot repair reaches 500 thousand kilometers or five years of operation.
To date, two prototypes have been produced. In 2022–2023, they were tested by InterTransCargo. Based on the results of trial operation, the manufacturer identified areas for improving the design, which made it possible to take into account the real operating conditions and prepare the model for mass production.
