Range Increased by 2 Times: New "Cheburashka-Ts" Antenna for UAVs Developed at the Air Force Academy

The device is designed for communication and control of allied drones

At the "Archimedes-2026" international salon in Moscow, specialists from the Zhukovsky and Gagarin Air Force Academy presented a new development. The universal antenna-rotating device was named "Cheburashka-Ts". It is designed for ground control stations of unmanned aerial vehicles. The main goal of the system is to amplify the signal and suppress interference when communicating with allied UAVs.

The developers explained the principle of operation of the system. The device is equipped with two receiving antennas. They compare the power of the incoming signal and determine the direction to the drone. After that, the rotary mechanism orients the transmitting antenna strictly at the drone.

This approach allows to double the communication range compared to basic solutions. For the safety of operators, the radiating antennas can be placed at a distance of up to 20 km from the control panel.

The device housing is manufactured on a three-dimensional printer. Available modular solutions are used in electronics. This allows the system to be produced and repaired in the field with basic tools.

The device has passed field tests. Calculations were trained to work with the equipment and received positive feedback. The military expressed a desire to order more of these antennas.
