Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral of the Fleet Alexander Moiseev, has confirmed the launch of a program to create 5th generation submarine cruisers. According to him, the fleet's renewal is dictated both by the expiration of old models and the high demand for this type of weaponry.
Such a program exists and is already being implemented. It is interdepartmental, comprehensive, and this approach allows it to be implemented.
Moiseev expressed confidence that the project will be completed in full.
Earlier, military expert Dmitry Kornev noted that in 2026, the nuclear submarine "Khabarovsk" (Project 09851) – a promising carrier of unmanned underwater vehicles "Poseidon" – should be undergoing sea trials.
The Navy will also enhance its strike capabilities with a submarine version of the "Zircon" missile. The first carrier will be the "Perm" nuclear submarine of the "Yasen-M" project, after which other submarines of this type will also receive hypersonic weapons.
