Rosmorport has summarized the results of the icebreaker navigation in the Azov and Caspian basins. In the winter season of 2025–2026, the operation of icebreakers in the southern directions ended in early March, the company reported.
In the Caspian Sea, icebreaker escorts ended on March 11. Three vessels — "Kapitan Bukayev", "Kapitan Metsaik", and "Kapitan Chechkin" — ensured passage through the Volga-Caspian Canal to the ports of Astrakhan and Olya. During the season, they guided about 400 vessels.
In the Azov Sea, the ice campaign ended in the first days of March. Six icebreakers worked in the ports of Azov, Yeysk, Rostov-on-Don, and Taganrog. The "Kapitan Moshkin", "Kapitan Chudinov", "Kapitan Demidov", tug "Georgy Sedov", as well as the icebreaker "Kapitan Krutov" and the icebreaker-tug "Fanagoria" (in Yeysk) participated in the escort. In total, they guided over 1190 vessels since the beginning of winter.
Rosmorport's icebreakers continue to operate in other directions: in the Gulf of Finland, the White Sea, as well as in the ports of Vanino and Magadan.
